Basement Remodeling FAQs

  • How does your process work?

Your needs for your space are discussed and solutions are offered during our initial meeting with you. At that time we will provide you with a budget. If the price meets your approval we sign a design agreement and begin the design phase. During the design phase we measure your space (including existing pipes, beams and ductwork) and create plans. After plans and pricing are complete we meet with you to go over the plans and costs. Small modifications are made to the plans at your request and the bid is modified accordingly. Once the plan/bid is finalized we sign a contract and project commencement dates are set. You will receive a complete set of drawings and a schedule for the project before the project begins. The project schedule will show you what is happening on a daily basis and your site superintendent is available to answer any questions you have. Timely inspections are made according to your jurisdiction’s local building requirements. Upon completion, your new space and windows are professionally cleaned for you.

  • How long will it take to finish my basement?

Most projects take about 6-8 weeks from start to finish. However, factors such as the size of your space and your choices in finished materials can affect the length of time to complete your project.

  • What is the cost per square foot?

Cost per square foot varies depending on the finishes you choose and other options chosen such as fireplaces, wet bars, granite, etc.

  • What design work do you provide?

Design work includes measuring your basement and providing you with a CAD drawing consisting of a floor plan, lighting plan, interior finish plan and a 3D plan. The design work also includes modifications to your plans, plan elevations, and assistance with finish material choices such as paint colors, cabinets, etc.

  • What is the cost for design work?

Design work is billed to you at an hourly rate. We do not charge you the design fee if you contract with us to proceed with the project.

  • What forms of payment do you accept and what are the project payment terms?

For your convenience, we accept cash and checks. The first payment is due at commencement of work. The second is due upon completion of framing. The third is due upon completion of all rough-ins: plumbing, electric, and heating. The fourth is due upon completion of drywall. The fifth is due upon completion of interior doors and trim. And the final payment of roughly 10% of the contract is due before occupancy upon the job presentation walk-through.

  • What areas do you serve?

We serve Northern Colorado and Larimer County in communities such as Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Wellington and Berthoud.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured to perform residential and commercial construction and carry more insurance than the minimum requirement. We encourage you to ask for proof of insurance from every contractor you are considering. We are happy to provide you with ours upon request.

  • Why do you employ hourly employees rather than solely using subcontractors?

Our hourly employees are clean-cut and educated individuals. We are proud of them and know they will abide by our high company standards while giving you the best product and service. In addition, having our own employees on the job-site helps control some of the most common construction nuisances such as noise, cigarette usage/disposal, and loud music. In addition, having a Basements 4 You employee at your home during the construction process provides you with a company representative to go to with questions.
